Well, it seems the Orissa-based aluminium major, National Aluminium Company (Nalco), may also have to coin a similar slogan. A write-up in the latest issue of its house magazine, `Parichay', says the company has successfully cultivated coffee at its Panchpatmali bauxite mines in the Eastern Ghats. The project was taken up as another step for the development of tribals living in the peripheral areas of the mines. Around 50 kg of processed coffee has been marketed so far from the first crop harvested from a plantation in about one hectare at the mines and near the township. Commercially, two grades of coffee have been introduced: 100 per cent pure coffee at Rs. 250 a kg and blended French coffee with 25 per cent Chicory at Rs. 200 a kg.
