Letters to the Editor
Sir, National security cannot be separated from the modus operandi of its security and Intelligence agencies like the Intelligence Bureau, the Research and Analysis Wing and the Central Bureau of Investigation. They are entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the country's interests from inner or outer foes. But when politicians use such agencies for scoring points over their opponents, they are forced to deviate from their designated task. It is important for these agencies to be kept away from the influence of politics. The heads of these prestigious security agencies should be selected under the supervision of the President with the Chief Justice and the Chief of Army Staff to advise and assist him. The same criteria should be followed in the transfer and promotion of such high-ranking officials.
