Vote for governance

Sir, — The electoral setback of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh needs to be introspected and drastic changes should be made to the party's approach to governance. One can safely predict that the results of the Lok Sabha elections, due in the next two years, will be a repetition of this trend. If the BJP wants to remain as the main challenger to the Congress, which is governing 14 States today, it has to recognise the importance of good governance. Hindu nationalism and issues like Mandir and Masjid alongside Islamic terrorism may bring power within grasp but they have no relevance when it comes to running governments.
