"With this electrification, after 55 years of Independence, the fisherfolk of this hamlet will join the mainstream life of modern India," Mr. Naik said at the inauguration of supply of electricity to the village. Sponsored by the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), the project was completed in 11 months by the efforts of the upstream major and the Maharashtra State Electricity Board. With a population of over 2,000, the historic Arnala fort village was not connected to the main line electricity till the project was taken up, he said. The energy companies have set up five special towers.
