No comments on Musharraf threat: PM

NEW DELHI APRIL 7. The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, today declined to comment on the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf's threat to use nuclear weapons in the event of a war in the sub-continent, saying he had not read the General's statement.

``I don't want to give any reaction until I have read the statement,'' Mr. Vajpayee said before leaving for Singapore and Cambodia.

In an interview to the German magazine Der Spiegel, Gen. Musharraf had said "if pressure on Pakistan becomes too great then, as a last resort, the atom bomb is also possible.'' India had a superpower obsession and was in the process of building its arms, he said.
