Cong. protests against POTA in Srinagar

By Shujaat Bukhari

SRINAGAR APRIL 8. The Congress today protested against the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA). Partymen, led by Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Taj Mohiuddin, and Khem Lata Wakhlu, tried to take out a procession from the Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters, but police prevented them. Addressing the partymen, who were holding placards such as "Down with POTA'', the Congress leaders said the Act would not be implemented in any Congress-ruled State. "We are against it and will put our might to scrap it. Black laws such as the POTA, together with poor governance and obdurate officialdom, make a dangerous combination, which can only lead to anarchy and break down of civil order."
