Letters to the Editor
Sir, The press conference of Prabakaran conveys a worrisome signal that terrorism perpetrated in the name of a freedom struggle can bring even a powerful Government to its knees. The way the mediapersons were frisked showed that the separatist leader already runs a de facto government beyond the reach of the Sri Lankan establishment. The peace process, brokered by Oslo, is a meek surrender to buy peace, and at a great cost. Strangely, the Sri Lankan Government failed to use the post-September 11 favourable international climate against terrorism to crush the LTTE with American support.
C.R. Narayanan,
