HYDERABAD, APRIL 11. The Warangal police have arrested Konda Murali, husband of Congress-I legislator, Konda Surekha, in connection with the killing of the Telugu Yuvatha Warangal district president, K. Pratap Reddy. The police have also arrested seven others, three of whom suspected to be hired assassins, in connection with the brutal killing. The police recovered a .38 revolver with six live rounds, seized from Murali, while a 9 mm pistol, five crude bombs and two blood-stained hunting sickles were recovered from other arrested. Our Warangal Staff Reporter writes: Telugu Desam party activists observed a bandh in Warangal town on Thursday in protest against the brutal murder of the district Telugu Yuvatha president, Kolli Pratap Reddy (38), by his faction rivals late last night. He was hacked to death with hunting sickles. Powerful bombs were also thrown at his car as the vehicle was passing beside a large portion of the road which has been excavated for improvement on Warangal - Hyderabad highway near Station Ghanpur, 22 km. from here. Two followers of Pratap Reddy -- Sivakoti and Rumakar -- and the car driver, Nageswara Rao, jumped out of the vehicle as the bombs exploded and ran to safety. Pratap Reddy, who was trapped in the rear seat, was killed on the spot. His head was almost dismembered. Three fingers in Sivakoti's leg were severed and he has been admitted to a private hospital here. The Superintendent of Police, Nalin Prabhat, said that the murder was a fallout of political rivalry between Konda Murali, husband of Shayampet MLA of the Congress, Konda Surekha, and Pratap Reddy.
