Southern Air Command chief

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI APRIL 11. Air Marshal T.M. Asthana was confirmed as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the Southern Air Command in place of Air Marshal Manjit Singh Sekhon who was asked to quit for seeking political intervention to further his career. Air Marshal Asthana was asked to hold temporary charge in March after Air Marshal Sekhon was attached to the Air Headquarters here.

Another reshuffle is imminent with the AOC-in-C of Central Air Command, Air Marshal V.K. Verma, due to retire this month end. The continuation of Air Marshal V.K. Bhatia as Western Air Command chief is said to have become untenable due to his actions after allegedly intruding into Pakistani air space. Air Marshal Sashi Tyagi with the Central Air Command, and the South Western Air Command chief, Air Marshal M. McMahan, are said to be in the running for the posts.
