The Russian-built Sinduratna diesel submarine is the fourth Kilo-class to have been refurbished in Russia under contracts with Rosoboronexport, the company said in a press release. During a two-year upgradation at the Zvyozdochka shipyard in Severodvinsk, the torpedo-firing INS Sinduratna, built in 1988, was equipped with the tube-launched Klub-S cruise missiles, effective against surface vessels, submarines and ground targets at a range of up to 300 km, the RIA-Novosti news agency said. The submarine has also been provided with a new acoustic system, a new information system and navigation equipment. The submarine will be handed over to the Indian Navy some time in summer, RIA-Novosti said. India has inducted 10 Kilo-class submarines.
