Bank loans for women: CM to convene meet

CHENNAI April 12. The Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, will convene a meeting of senior bank officials to sort out the problem of women entrepreneurs being denied bank loans. She was responding to A.S. Kannan's (CPI) allegation in the Assembly that women who underwent the entrepreneurship training found it difficult to obtain loans from banks.

The training was given to one lakh women in 2001-02, Ms. Jayalalithaa said and added that in 2002-03, 1.25 lakh women would be trained.
