Moya enters quarterfinals

OEIRAS April 12. No. 3 seed Carlos Moya of Spain overcame Italy's Federico Luzzi 6-2, 7-6 on Thursday in the second round and enter the quarterfinals of the $ 465,000 clay-court Estoril Open, where players battled against strong winds.

Mahesh in quarterfinals

The top-seeded pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi made it to the doubles quarterfinals with a 2-6, 6-1, (10-8) victory over wild card entrants Harel Levy of Israel and Fernando Meligeni of Brazil.

The Indo-Belarussian pair, which sneaked through in the recently introduced format of the third set being a mere tie-break, will take on Emanuel Couto and Bernardo Mota of Portugal in the second round.

Women's singles (second round): Angeles Montolio bt Celine Beigbeder 6-2, 6-2; Anca Barna bt Katarina Srebotnik 7-5, 4-6, 6-3; Lourdes Dominguez Lino bt Rita Kuti Kis 6-3, 6-4.
