By Our Special Correspondent
At least 30 houses, shops and cabins were torched in the locality where about 15 persons, including two Rapid Action Force jawans, were injured in stone-throwing. The situation was described as tense but under control. An indefinite curfew remained in force in Viramgam town in Ahmedabad district following tension over the arrest of the BJP president of the municipality. Police said that no untoward incidents was reported in the town today. Most other parts of riot-torn Gujarat remained incident-free with night curfew still in force in about two dozen cities and towns. An official spokesman said that life was fast returning to normality and trade and commercial activities had resumed.
