It was obvious at the end of a marathon meeting of the TDP's politburo presided over by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, which went on till late on Sunday night, that a final decision on continuing support to the NDA Government would depend upon the Prime Minister, A. B. Vajpayee's response in Parliament to the demand for Mr. Modi's ouster. Briefing presspersons after the meeting, the TD Parliamentary Party (TDPP) leader, K. Yerran Naidu, said there was no climbdown by the party on the Gujarat issue since "we have never said we will withdraw support''. Mr. Yerran Naidu said the TDP politburo reiterated its stand that Mr. Modi should go and that it was not proper for the BJP national executive to ask him to go in for polls without the restoration of law and order in Gujarat.
