Arson continues in Ahmedabad

By Our Special Correspondent

AHMEDABAD April 15. Arson and incidents of stone-throwing continued unabated in some localities of Ahmedabad today even as most other parts of trouble-torn Gujarat remained by and large peaceful.

At least a dozen houses were set afire in Idgah locality in Madhavpura area. Two groups also indulged in heavy stone-throwing, forcing the police to burst teargas shells and open fire. At least five people were injured in the stone-throwing and police firing.

With one more person succumbing to the bullet injuries sustained in police firing in Dariapur on Sunday night, the toll in the latest round of violence went up to three. Tension prevailed in the locality and in most other parts of the walled city when the funeral procession of the three was taken out under heavy police bandobust.
