"If there has been a decline in relatives visiting Pakistan it is because bus and train services have been discontinued and travel by air is via Dubai (due to the closure of air space in Pakistan),'' Kamran Ali Khan, Minister (Press) in the Pakistan High Commission told a press conference on the sidelines of the Pacific-Asia Travel Association (PATA) here today. Mr. Khan was stepping in for the Pakistan High Commissioner who was earlier slated to address the press on tourism initiatives by his country. Asked about the impact of September 11 terrorist attacks and the subsequent U.S. action in Afghanistan on tourism, he said there was less air traffic, "but on the ground there was nothing to discourage tourists''. To a question on how would Islamabad allay fears of other nations on the security situation, Mr. Khan said "the respective embassies are better judges''.
