Visa rules relaxed

By Gargi Parsai

NEW DELHI APRIL 16. Sri Lanka has extended its `visa-on-arrival' facility to India to give a boost to tourism. So far India had been bracketed with Iran and Afghanistan in being excluded from the policy and Indians visiting the island had to obtain visas in advance. Sri Lanka extends the facility to 78 countries.

The country has launched special promotion packages to lure tourists following peace talks with the LTTE. It seems to have paid off with the Sri Lankan tourism picking up again after a 15 per cent drop in international arrivals last year.
