NEW DELHI, April 16. The first victim of the Bharatiya Janata Party's new resolve not to allow party workers or leaders to air their views not in line with the party thinking may well be the Union Food Minister, Shanta Kumar. An indication of this came from the BJP leadership today. Mr. Kumar is being targeted because he was one of the few in the party to come out in open support of the Opposition demand for the head of the Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi. He had stated in a television interview that had he been the Chief Minister he would have resigned. The BJP decided at its recent national executive committee meeting in Goa that one of the measures needed to be taken to rejuvenate the party was to take strict disciplinary action against anybody who speaks out of line.
