Call for peace in Gujarat

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI APRIL 17. The founder member of the Muslim Personal Law Board and Ameer of Jamea-tul-Hidaya, Fazlur Raheem Mujaddedi, has urged the Hindus and Muslims in Gujarat ``to put an end to the barbarism'' as it weakened the nation.

Condemning the Godhra killings and the subsequent violence in Gujarat he said that India continued to reap the seeds of discord sown by the colonial policy of "divide and rule''. At a press conference here, Mohammad Mujaddedi said "many countries in the world want to see India as a weak country''. He refused to comment on queries as to whether there was a foreign hand in the Godhra killings.
