The fifth-seeded Prahlad Srinath was the other Indian to make the pre-quarterfinals as he eased past qualifier Evgueni Kour of Russia 6-1, 6-1. Two other Indians, Vijay Kannan and Mustafa Ghouse could not win against lesser ranked opponents. The national hardcourt champion, Vijay lost 6-2, 2-6, 3-6 to the 1370th ranked Branislav Repa of Slovakia, while the eighth-seeded Mustafa Ghouse went down 1-6, 2-6 to the 953rd-ranked Steven Randjelovic of Australia. In doubles, the fourth-seeded Mustafa and Srinath scored a 6-1, 6-4 victory over in the pre-quarterfinals over Ali Al Ghareeb and Abdullah Maqdas of Kuwait. Rohan Bopanna and Vijay Kannan have been seeded third and will play against Adrian Barbu and Ramin Razixani of Iran in the first round.
