According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Pakistan detonated some explosive devices in the R.S. Pura area in Jammu, where India is erecting a border fence on its side of the IB. The erection of the fence assumes importance in the light of India's unilateral efforts to deny infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir. By erecting a fence and mobilising forces along the IB and the Line of Control, the Government hopes to check infiltration from Pakistan this summer. "Clearly this is yet another attempt by Pakistan to disrupt the fencing work, which is an effective mechanism against cross-border infiltration of terrorists, smugglers and other illegal entrants", the spokesperson said.
