The CPI(M), along with the CPI, would undertake a joint Statewide campaign between May 11 and 17 to highlight the economic situation, the Central and State budgets, and communal clashes. The campaign would impress upon the State Government the need for taking efforts to solve local issues. Mr. Varadarajan found fault with the DMK and the AIADMK for ``turning'' the Assembly into a political platform, especially on the Cauvery issue. The House should discuss only public issues, he urged.
