Murder charge: TDP rejects Cong. Accusation

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD April 19. The Telugu Desam has dismissed the Congress charge that the accused in the Telugu Yuvatha leader, Pratap Reddy's murder belong to it. There is enough proof, it said, to show they are all Congressmen.

The party also rejected the Congress(I) demand for a CBI probe as being aimed at protecting the guilty who it knows are its men.

Konda Murali, husband of Congress MLA, Surekha, had confessed to the murder.

Putting the party view at a press conference here on Friday, R. Prakash Reddy, general secretary, N. Anjaneyulu, politburo member, B. Janardhan, secretary, E. Peddi Reddy, MLAs, and K. Narayanaiah, acting office secretary, said the accused in the case - N.Sivaprasad, V. Sitaramudu and Venkateswara Rao - were all active Congressmen who had worked for Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy in the 1998 Lok Sabha elections in Cuddapah.

Police records showed that Sivaprasad and his father had attacked S. Raghurami Reddy, presently TDP MLA from Mydukur, with bombs at the time. Some others named as accused had worked for the Congress in the local bodies polls last year.
