The act was designed to curb the various terrorist groups including international terrorist activities and ensure peace in the country, he added. Ridiculing the killings and destruction of property in the region, he called upon the naxalites to shun violence and join the mainstream of society to participate in the development of the villages. He suggested the naxalites to surrender before the people of interior villages raised a protest against their destructive acts. Ramakrishna Reddy, T Venkataramana Reddy, the district BJP president, P Sugunakar Rao, the BJP Kisan Morcha State executive committee member, B Jagan Mohan Rao and others participated in the funeral procession. Yellareddypet mandal headquarters observed a bandh in the town in protest against the naxalites' act. CPI condemns killing Our Hyderabad Special Correspondent writes: The CPI has criticised the People's War Group for the murder of Ragula Bal Reddy and Rayapu Reddy, both BJP leaders of Karimnagar district. In a statement, the party's State secretary, Suravaram Sudhakara Reddy, said it was shocking to note that the PWG said it murdered these activists to protest against POTO, as "it is meaningless and foolish to punish and murder a local cadre for the wrong policies of their national leadership. It is the height of irresponsible behaviour.''
