Shimla polls: Cong. charge against BJP

By Our Staff Correspondent

SHIMLA APRIL 20. The BJP is adopting all tactics to include a number of bogus voters for the Shimla Municipal Corporation polls to be held on April 27, said senior Congress leaders Mr. Sat Mahajan and Mr. Kaul Singh, who are in charge of these polls.

Talking to newsmen here today, they said four hostels of the H.P. University, situated out of the Municipal limits, were earlier deleted but have been included in the final lists, and addition and deletion of 300 votes in a ward of 2500 voters matters a lot.

The Congress leaders warn that by all means they will avert fraud in voting in any ward.

They also warned the district administration officers against siding with the ruling party.

Mr. Mahajan, who is also an ex-president of the PCC , has alleged that the government machinery is being misused.

In the summer hill area which includes the university, the official cars of the Pro-vice-chancellor and the Chairman of School Education Board and many others are being used by the BJP supporters for the campaigning, they alleged.

Different types of sops have been offered to the government employees to work for the BJP candidates and the employees dominate the municipal corporation of Shimla, he said.
