Landmines unearthed, naxal leader surrenders

ANANTAPUR: The Ramagiri police in the district unearthed two landmines planted by the PWG targetting police on Saturday. They were planted by the Ramagiri Rythanga Guerrilla dalam of the PWG.

Giving details to newspersons, the Superintendent of Police, Anjana Sinha, said that when a police party led by the Ramagiri CI, Sivasankar Reddy and the Kanaganapalli SI, Subhakumar, were on combing operation, they received information about the claymore mines planted in the area.

According to the information, the police party found two claymore mines planted between Konetipalyam and Bommaiahswamy temple in the forest area. The claymore mines were removed carefully along with the fuse wires. The mines were covered with

heaps of small stones.
