`Gujarat Govt. callous towards students'

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI APRIL 20. The Delhi State Committee of the National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW) has condemned the "indifferent and callous attitude'' of the Gujarat Government towards the fate of the thousands of school students who have registered for the Class X and XII examinations which began on Thursday. Referring to the apprehensions voiced from different quarters over the location of the examination centres, the NFIW said the refusal of the administration to relocate them to safer localities was "the surest way of ruining their careers and seems to be part of a carefully-planned strategy''.

The Federation has demanded relocation of the examination centres to safer locations nearer home for the affected children, adequate protection to the candidates by deploying Army and para-military forces, and a second chance for those students who could not appear for their examinations because of the prevailing situation.
