While defending champion Nitin brushed aside Punna Vishal, Sandeep, now a coach with the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA), defeated the No. 2 seed Vinod Sridhar quite comfortably. The Kirtanes had, earlier in the day, teamed up to beat Intikhab Ali and Mayur Vasant in the doubles. The results: Men's singles (semifinals): 1-Nitin Kirtane bt 4-Punna Vishal 6-1, 6-0; Sandeep Kirtane bt Vinod Sridhar 6-1, 6-3.
