Sir,__ There is a need to drastically reform the system of general holidays as our workers enjoy too many holidays. The break-up shows that all communities get 24 holidays whereas any single community needs only a maximum of 10 days: Various communities need only a few holidays: Hindus 10, Muslims 4, Christians 3, Buddhists 1, Sikhs 1. Everyone gets 12 days casual leave. So it will be enough if the casual leave is increased to 22 days, irrespective of the fact that any body will utilise it for the festival days or not. What is the logic in allowing a worker belonging to a particular community to enjoy holidays which he does not need?
C.S. Subba Rao,
