Rape of mentally unsound girl: accused arrested

Pondicherry April 21. The Tirukanoor police arrested today a 25-yeae-old youth, G. Murugan, on a charge of alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl who is mentally unsound and also dumb. Police sources said the accused was held at Madhurapakkam, a border village of Tamil Nadu, close to Mannadipet limits.

The police registered a case following a complaint from the girl's mother.The Senior Superintendent of Police, Anandh Mohan, issued necessary instructions to intensify investigation.A police team led by the Superintendent of Police, R. George, and comprising the Inspector of Tirukanoor limits, Rameshkanthan, and SI Thangamani arrested the accused.
