BMFC blanks INFC

Pondicherry April 21. Scoring once in both the halves, Bengal Mumbai Football Club (BMFC) defeated Indian National Football Club (INFC) 2-0 in a fourth-round match of the second division National Football League (final phase) here on Sunday.

With this win, BMFC has increased its points to six while INFC lost all the four matches it played.

In a lacklustre encounter, BMFC, after much exchanges, opened its account at the 40th minute when Enail Vartazarian found the net through a fine header, connecting from Ram Ishwar Mehato after a flag-kick.

Thereafter, both the sides made some quick moves. However, they could not convert the chances that came their way and the scoreboard remained 1-0 in favour of BMFC at the breather.

After the break, BMFC made some quick raids into the rival citadel. However, it fell prey time and again to an off-side trap laid by the Delhi side.

On the other hand, INFC missed a fine chance at the 70th minute. Robert Kakoi Lusweti collected the ball, ran down the right flank and shot at the goal. Custodian Rehman dived to his right and fisted the ball back into play. Before Cassuis Akumu Owino could pounce on it, BMFC defender Sajid cleared the ball to safety. Thereafter, INFC dominated almost the entire second session.

However, it was the INFC citadel that fell again at the 83rd minute when Mahoto found the net. Mahoto collected a pass from Songachan Zimik at the right flank, dribbled past the defenders and shot home with a fine left-footer.

Though INFC made some desperate efforts to score, it could not penetrate the deep defence of the Mumbai side and the players resorted to some long-rangers to which keeper Rehman was very alert. — UNI
