Latex's female condoms

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM APRIL 21. The Hindustan Latex, manufacturers of contraceptive and health care aids in the country, would be manufacturing female condoms with the technical collaboration of a British company this year. Announcing this at a press conference here today, the chairman of the Hindustan Latex, G. Rajmohan, said the condoms to be used by women would be made of polyurethene, which has less allergic properties. The Britain-based company, Female Health Care Company of Britain would provide the technical assistance for this product. While the marketing of this product in India would be done by the Hindustan Latex, the British company would be in charge of its export, he said. Mr. Rajmohan stated that the company had its highest turnover and profits during last year. The company's turnover for 2002-2002 was Rs. 126.55 crores as against Rs. 105.24 crores during 2000-2001. The profit attained for the past year was Rs. 10.55 crores, an increase of Rs. 2.39 crores than that of the previous year. He added that the company's direct marketing turnover had gone up to Rs. 29 crores for 2001-2002 from Rs. 3 crores during 1994-1995. The exports had doubled to Rs. 9.35 crores during the past year. The company also proposes to pay a dividend of Rs. 1.33 crores to the Union Government for the year 2001-2002, he said.
