The `Zero garbage scheme' was launched today at Radha Nagar, Chromepet, with the distribution of dustbins to around 25 residents. Two types of dustbins, one for perishables and another for plastic materials, were given to the locals. Organised by the Chromepet Radha Nagar Residents' Welfare Association (North), the scheme envisages distribution of dustbins to a total of 400 residents and collection of garbage by the Pallavapuram municipality. The municipal chairman, P. Dhansingh, the commissioner, Z. Mehbooba, and the association president, Mani, were present at the inaugural function.
