By Our Staff Reporter
The exact value of the lost property was not immediately known. The burglary came to light this morning. According to police, S.Ramanathan, the engineer, went to Coimbatore last week. Preliminary investigation revealed that the culprits had ransacked the house. They broke open the steel almirah and the safety locker and removed all cash and valuables. The incident came as a shock for the local residents, as the house was located in a densely populated area. Residents said despite police claiming intensified vigil and patroling, there was no visible police presence in the area. Senior police officials visited the spot. Finger prints were lifted from the scene of crime. A sniffer dog was also brought to the house. Police are still in the dark about the culprits behind the burglaries at Egmore and Kilpauk areas. The spate of burglaries continued despite repeated assurances of stepping up the patrol.
