``Revenge serves no purpose in this country. Whatever happened in Gujarat is condemnable,'' Mr. Advani said, addressing the INA war veterans. ``Whatever happened in Gujarat during the last few days is not good. It was wrong,'' he said. Mr. Advani also said the Centre has taken a serious view of the reported incident of gangrape by three Border Security Force personnel in Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir and asserted that strict action has been initiated against the guilty. ``It is a very serious matter...the Government is taking necessary action,'' he said. He said steps would be taken to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
`Bose ignored'
Coming down on Congress Governments since Independence for ignoring Netaji Subash Chandra Bose's achievements, the Home Minister said it was made to look like that India got freedom only due to one family. ``Unfortunately in India there has been discrimination. Sometimes, from the Government. Bose's place should have been such that no leader could have matched it in 50 or 55 years. But for years he was ignored, it looked that Independence was achieved only due to one family though that family had made its contribution in the freedom struggle,'' he said. Mr. Advani said, ``To highlight the achievements of one family just to show devotion to it and ignoring the contributions and bravery of Bose and others was wrong''. PTI, UNI
