Two women murdered in City

BANGALORE APRIL 21. Two women were murdered in separate incidents reported from Kengeri and Basaveshwaranagar Police Station limits on Saturday night.

Police said that Jyothiamma (40) was bludgeoned to death with a boulder allegedly by her husband, Narayana, at MTS Colony, 16th Cross, 1st T Main, in Kengeri Satellite Town late on Saturday night.

The couple, married for eight years, were construction workers hailing from Tamil Nadu. Police said that Narayana lost his mental balance one month ago. Kengeri police have registered a case of murder and arrested Narayana.

In another incident, Savitha (22) was strangulated to death at her house in Manivilas Garden, NGO Colony, in Basaveshwaranagar Police Station limits.

Police suspect that she was murdered by her alcoholic husband, Venkatesh, who was jobless from two months. The couple, who hailed from Nagamangala taluk of Mandya District, has two children. Police have registered a case of murder on the basis of a complaint by Savitha's cousin, Gurumurthy. Venkatesh has been picked up for interrogation, police said.

Two killed in mishap

Two persons were killed in road accidents in the City on Saturday night.

Kamala (35), who was crossing the road near T.D.Lane and Goods Shed Road junction, was hit by a motorcycle around 9.30 p.m. A seriously injured Kamala, a resident of T.D. Lane, died on the way to a hospital. Cottonpet police have registered a case.

K.Michael (59), a resident of Malleswaram, suffered severe head injuries after a motorcycle rammed into his scooter near Mysore Lamps factory in Yeshwanthapura around 7 p.m. Michael died at NIMHANS late in the night. The motorcycle rider has been hospitalised, police said.

Arrested

Vayalikaval police have arrested Sudhakar (28) of Cholurpalya, off Magadi Road, on charges of chain snatching and recovered two gold chains worth Rs. 40,000 from him.
