SC nod for Ganga action plan

By Our Legal Correspondent

NEW DELHI April 22. The Supreme Court today permitted the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam to implement the Rs. 50-crore Ganga Action Plan II for treatment of the city sewage discharged into the river.

Observing that there was no justification for interfering with the execution of the project, a Bench comprising G.B. Pattanaik and Brijesh Kumar vacated an earlier stay on the implementation of the project after counsel for the Jal Nigam, Ajay Aggarwal, explained to the court as to how the stay was affecting the river's cleanliness.
