VC sacked

Chandigarh April 22. The Controversial Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University, Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia, who is under a cloud for offences, including a rape charge, has been sacked with immediate effect to ``prevent further deterioration of the atmosphere'' in the Patiala-based university.

The order was released to the press at the news conference today addressed by the Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh. Mr. Singh said the Vigilance Bureau will probe the actions of Ahluwalia. — PTI
