Letters to the Editor
Sir, What is the opinion of the respected readers about those persons who kill innocent men and women, who burn their children, who set their houses on fire, who break places of worship, who burn the pages of holy books, who strip young girls naked and gang-rape them in the presence of their parents, who sprinkle petrol and set their relatives on fire, who loot their property and enjoy this barbarism? What is the opinion of the learned readers about those individuals or politicians who offer their protection to such hoodlums, lunatics and murderers? Sanity says that such persons who indulge in such barbarism can never be a true Hindu or a true Muslim. Such barbarians are neither `Rambhakt' nor `Rahimbhakt.' The first requirement of religion is compassion for life created by God. I strongly condemn the killings at Godhra and in the rest of Gujarat.
Akhtar Hussain Aftab,
