Mahima Rajmohan in lead

DHARMAPURI APRIL 23. Mahima Rajmohan of Madurai took the sole lead at the end of the fifth round of the Jayam College of Engineering and Ramco Cements 16th Tamil Nadu State sub-junior girls' chess championship for the Arasan Kalyanasundari Ammal Gurusamy Trophy.

Mahima has 4.5 points and is followed by a group of six girls at four points each.

In the 28th Tamil Nadu State sub-junior championship for the V.L. Ethiraj Trophy Uttam Sharma (Thiruvallur), M.K.Narasimhan (Chennai) and S.Arun Prasad (Salem) are in joint lead with 4.5 points each.

Six more rounds remain in this 11-round Swiss system championship, and the top four in this tournament advance to the forthcoming National Championship at Calicut.

In the Girls top board, Iswarya Shobana blundered in the opening against Anjanaa Sowjanyaa but the latter failed to notice the error and the game ended in a draw.

In the fourth round in the morning, Mahima drew with Iswarya Shobana on the top board and in the evening round she beat Jenitha Anto of Trichy to take the lead. The top two boards in the boys' section ended in a draw.
