MOSCOW: A senior Russian counter-intelligence officer accused the CIA of failing to provide adequate information in the framework of the joint fight against terrorism. The Russian secret services are not quite happy with the quantity and quality of intelligence information they have been getting from their American counterparts under an agreed exchange of information on international terrorism, the Interfax news agency reported quoting the Deputy Director of Russia's Federal Security Service, General Viktor Komogorov. ``In February, for example, we gave the CIA about 100 reports, while receving only 50 in return,'' Gen. Komogorov told Interfax, adding that the Russian reports were analytical, covering terrorists' plans. "We gave them information that was subsequently put to practical use, while the CIA sent us bare facts.'' The Russian official said the CIA had ignored Russian requests for additional information. ``This is not the kind of cooperation in combating international terrorism that we had counted on,'' Gen. Komogorov said. Senior American officials have repeatedly praised "valuable'' intelligence information on the Taliban, Al- Qaeda and other international terrorist outfits that the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, offered to share with the U. S. As part of Russia's contribution to the global war on terrorism in the wake of the September 11 attacks.
