Razzaq, Younis pilot Pakistan to series win

RAWALPINDI April 25. All-rounder Abdul Razzaq and Younis Khan hammered powerful half centuries and guided Pakistan to a narrow three-wicket win over New Zealand in their second one-day International on Wednesday to clinch the three-match series with one game to go. Pakistan, labelled as a poor chaser in the shorter version of the game, overhauled the Kiwis' total of 277, making 278 in 47.1 overs, thanks to Razzaq's 86 off 84 balls and Younis' brilliant 70.

The victory makes the final match, scheduled for Lahore on Saturday, inconsequential. Razzaq was promoted ahead of Inzamam-ul-Haq to No. 5 and shared a match-winning 93-run fourth-wicket stand with Younis, who scored his fourth half-century in the last five games.

Razzaq was bowled by Scott Styris in the 43rd over when Pakistan was just 26 runs away from victory. Lou Vincent gave his team a glimmer of hope when he ran out Wasim Akram in the 45th over with a brilliant diving effort.
