Flutter at Naidu's meet

By Our Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI APRIL 27. There was a mild flutter when the valve of a fire extinguisher went off accidentally at a function today at the Gandhi Bhavan Trust here in which the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N.Chandrababu Naidu, was participating.

Shortly after he rose to speak after unveiling a bronze statue of veteran Congressman, R.Nadhamuni Reddy, the fire extinguisher, kept nearby, fell down.

Its safety valve opened up and the gas gushed out.

Securitymen immediately threw a human ring around Mr. Naidu even as others led by Mr. Naidu's chief security officer, Mr.Umapathy, kicked the cylinder away to a corner.

The Chief Minister remained unruffled and resumed his speech soon.
