Instead of discussing problems affecting the people, the two parties were using the Assembly session for making ``excessive remarks''. The ruling party, instead of trying to resolve the people's problems, was shifting the blame on the Opposition parties, the State CPI (M) committee, said in a resolution here. In another resolution, the State Committee, which met in the city, urged the AIADMK not to wind up the free dhoti and saree scheme for, the decisions would affect poor beneficiaries and cripple the livelihood of lakhs of weavers. The Government had placed orders with the weavers for sarees and dhotis and the stocks were lying in Cooptex godowns. It had not procured the clothes or paid the weavers their dues. The party also urged the Government to ensure social justice for Dalits at Keeripatti and Pappapatti, where elected presidents resigned at the instance of ``oppressive forces''. Also, elections had not been held in a ward reserved for Dalits at Vriddachalam municipalty, it said. The party condemned the Govenrment move to extend the term of the special officers of cooperative societies without holding elections.
