Letters to the Editor
Sir, History repeats itself. The religious divide and traditionalism of the middle ages are gradually becoming part and parcel of this era. Modernism gave way to post-modernism and we are now seeing post-emotional era. The aftermath of September 11 has affected human life to its basic roots. The belief in God and the increasing attraction towards yoga, spiritual studies and metaphysics are a clear-cut indication of this. The victory of the rightist parties in ultra modern countries and in India where tolerance has been the `mantra' is an indication of things to come. What then is the future of democracy? Will democracy prevail without secularism? Are we going to revert to the medieval ages? Anil Kumar Dubey, Sasaram, Bihar
