Letters to the Editor
Sir, Anent the Editorial, ``Rights and obligations'' (April 26): That such a fundamental nexus truth should be considered of doubtful worth shows what a long way we have gone, down a precipitous slope, since the time our founding fathers gave us our Constitution. The fact that Article 51 A had to be inserted in 1976 by the 42nd amendment to remind the people that they had to be dutiful to the Constitution was bad enough; to state in 2002 that such a reminder came in ``infamous'' circumstances, and is therefore less worthy of consideration, is an invitation to hurtle us into the pit of grave irresponsibility. V. Ramamurthy, Chennai
