Participating in the annual project day of the Food bank, the Health Minister, S. Semmalai today said the former Chief Minister, M.G. Ramachandran, suffered the pangs of penury and hence he launched the Nutritious Noon Meal Scheme for children. The Chief Minister had instituted the `Annadanam' scheme in temples with the same aim, he said, appealing to the RYA to adopt one or two temples in Chennai.
