Wildlife sanctuaries at Krishnapuram in Villupuram district, Sujalkuttai at Bhavanisagar (Erode) and Megamalai (Theni), besides the Suchindram Teroor bird sanctuary and wildlife sanctuaries in Kanyakumari, were ``under consideration'', the Forest Minister, P. Mohan, informed the Assembly today. In his policy note on the Forest and Environment department, he said the Pitchavaram mangrove swamp near Chidambaram would also be converted into a sanctuary. Besides, a State zoological authority would be set up to improve the zoo at Vandalur near Chennai. And, to spread enviromental consciousness among students, a national green corps would be launched in 3000 schools with Rs. 30-lakh Central assistance.
