Sir, The BJP has made all the wrong moves when it came to tackling the Gujarat crisis. Instead of showing Narendra Modi the door for his failure to check the violence following mounting political pressure, the BJP leaders lent him support and advised him to dissolve the Gujarat Assembly and go in for fresh elections. The foreign countries were not wrong in expressing their dissent over the happenings in Gujarat especially after they had lent their support to the U.S. in its fight against terrorism of all kinds. Instead of taking appropriate steps to restore normality, the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, has exhorted them to "stop preaching". Such an arrogant attitude would only help in making India unpopular at the international level. V. Rajesh, Mumbai
