Sir, Sushma Ramachandran writes that under the Administered Price Mechanism, motor spirits (petrol) were priced far higher than their actual cost to subsidise kerosene and LPG (April 29). As the APM has been dismantled, there is no need for changing higher prices to subsidise kerosene and LPG. The Government should explain why these higher prices have not been withdrawn and the benefit passed on to petrol users from April 1. R. Sabeshan, Bangalore
